"Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away...."
The rain is gone (for now!) and I believe today is going to be a wonderful day. For weather, and other things!
Today is the senior prom. I can't wait to see pictures of my sweet, beautiful cousin, Alex. And, speaking of pictures-- I'm actually taking them of my friend's daughter, Emily. I'm a little nervous about it, to be honest! I want her and her friends to have great prom pictures. What if I don't do a good job, and she hates them? I'd feel horrible. Fingers are crossed that they turn out great! Prom pictures are important. You have to look back on them twenty years later and say, "What was I wearing?" or "Oh my god, look at my nerdy date!"
I didn't go to my senior prom. Long story, completely different post. But, I did go to two my junior year. One was with my friend, Adam, he went to a school in a different county, so the only person I knew at prom was him! The other prom I attended my junior year was with my friend, Pat. It's funny after all these years, I'm still friends with them on Facebook. Maybe the next time I'm at mom's, I'll grab the photo albums and scan a few pictures. My dress was a fuchsia pink, I had big hair (of course) and I was rather skinny. Oh to be that way again-- skinny with big hair is one hell of a combination!
After our prom photo shoot, I'll have to come home and get ready! We're going out for my birthday. Several of us are going to Bucca di Beppo for dinner. Yum. And, my sister sent me a text last night saying we should go to Churchill Downs for Downs After Dark. It's their night racing event, and tonight is opening night. That sounds great to me, so I guess I'll check with everyone to see if they are up for that. Maybe I'll get lucky and win some money! Momma needs a new pair of shoes!

Royal Wedding
Yes, I was one of those crazy people that got up at 4:30 this morning to watch the Royal Wedding! I loved it. I loved seeing all the hats, and what people were wearing. I loved seeing Prince William and Prince Harry walk in together. Being the mom of boys, I love seeing a bond between brothers. I thougth Kate was absolutely beautiful!
Hankadoo was watching as he was getting ready for school, and he said, "Who cares about a princess, where's the KING?"
Oh, Hank!

Rain, Rain-- STAY AWAY!
The sun is shining for the first time in several days. We've had nothing but rain lately. Well, I take that back-- we've had rain, flooding, winds, and tornadoes. Roads are flooded, people have had to evacuate their homes, creekbanks are pushed to their limits, everything is a muddy mess, and our fairgrounds lost three buildings on Tuesday from a tornado. Someone said yesterday that they had recorded almost ten inches of rain in their rain gauge since Easter Sunday. That's a lot of rain in a short period of time! My rainboots have been my shoe of choice lately.
I'm hoping the sun is here to stay!

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Peej!
It's Sunday, PJ's birthday was Friday, and I'm just now posting about it. It wasn't that I forgot, I've just been busy.
I still can't believe that he's 16! My little peanut of a baby is now this handsome, funny, and overall great young man.
He's my little miracle baby. My pregnancy was one complication after another, I was sick (very sick!) from day one, my water broke at 28 weeks, I was in the hospital for three weeks when the doctors decided his lungs were mature. They induced labor on April 21, and at 2:46 a.m. on April 22, this tiny boy weighing 4lbs 40zs was born. He was tiny. Yet, at the same time he was huge. Most babies born at 31 weeks weigh between 1 and 2 pounds, he doubled that. If he had gone full-term, he would have been a hoss!! It's not uncommon for premature babies to stay in the hospital until their actual due date, which for him would have been the very end of June. He came home on May 10, little but healthy! He's never had the health issues that a lot of preemies have. And, now 16-years-later, you'd never know that he started out so teeny.
Happy Birthday, Peej!

Life is not fair!!
Some things in life just aren't fair. Today, for example... my sister is soaking up the sun on some beach in Mexico, drinking umbrella drinks, and working on her tan! I am sitting in my alternate office, with a splitting headache thanks to the paint fumes that are coming from my real office. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for my office to get the makeover. It is much needed. It's going to look great when it's done. But, given the two, I'd rather be with my sister, sipping a fruitty drink. It's also not fair that she's built like a super model and I'm build like a Model T.

Here Fishy, Fishy!
Some people look forward to the first day of a hunting season, or opening day of baseball. Yesterday was declared 'Opening Day of Fishing Season'...... and this was Hankadoo's catch of the day. It made him happy. He fished with his Grumps, planted flowers with his MawMaw. He came home tired and a little sunburnt. He said it was a great day!

It's that time of year..
A lot changes in the spring. Not just the trees and flowers blooming, and the weather getting warm, it seems like we get really busy in the spring! After being lazy all winter, and being home all the time, spring rolls around and we are all of the sudden packed on the calendar, and out of the house all the time. The past week or so has been a blur. We've gone to the circus, we've had Hank's birthday party, the boys were on sprig break, we've had Hank's actual birthday, we've had soccer practice, we've gone to the Louisville Science Center, we've been in and out of the house a lot. And, I can tell. I have a huge things to do list, and I know without a doubt that I can't get it all done today. So, it's time to pick and choose. Going to the grocery is important, we need food. And, laundry is important, we need clean underwear. Going to Louisville to pick PJ up is important, he goes back to school tomorrow. Getting Austin to work is important, he needs his paycheck. And, if you ask Hank what's most important today, he's going to say FISHING! Hank is going fishing with his Grumps today. He's so excited! Dad caught several nice fish yesterday, and Hank is determined he's going to have the same luck today. We have his poles ready, we bought worms, his tackle box is stocked, and we tug his life jacket out of the closet since Grumps is taking him on the little boat. After the great fishermen return, Hank and MawMaw are going to plant flower seeds and work in the yard. They plant their flower seeds in the spring, and then track their progress all summer. Hankadoo loves this! And, he takes great pride in his zinnias, and sunflowers. There have been times where he's said, "Mom, we have to go out to MawMaw's so I can see how my flowers are doing!" I'm sure once the ground is ready for tomatoes and squash, he'll be out there with Grumps digging and working on the garden. They'll dig, water, weed, water, feed, etc. etc...and when that first tomato is ripe, Hank will pick it. It's that time of year! Soccer, Fishing, Gardening, the laundry doubles and my eyes stay red and watery. Ahhh, spring!
