My little graduate

I can't believe that my Hankadoo is getting ready to graduate from Kindergarten. He can't be that big, can he?

Life is back to normal...

The wedding has come and gone, and life is back to normal for all of us. Well, except for the newlyweds--they are on their honeymoon. So while I'm going to work every day, and doing laundry, and running to soccer practice, they are on the beach, basking in the sun, and sipping fruity umbrella drinks! I'm so jealous!
The wedding was great! I know they say that all brides are beautiful, but I have to say my sister was the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen. She was so calm, and relaxed. And, if she was nervous, it didn't show. She absolutely glowed. Fr. Chuck did the most amazing job with their ceremony. It was very personalized, and I believe that he wrote it just for them. It was the best wedding ceremony that I've ever witnessed. The whole bridal party looked amazing! My little ring bearer was so cute. And the bigger boys looked very grown-up in their suits and ties. Everything went very smooth, except for PJ slamming his finger in the car door about 45 minutes before the ceremony started! Poor thing. It looked awful! He was such a trooper, he still stood at the door, handing out programs. He had his beat-up, bloody finger hidden in his pocket. I can't wait to see the professional pictures. The photographers were very friendly, and I know they took some awesome pictures.
All along, my sister, and her fiancee (now husband!) said that they wanted to just party it up at the reception, and that's exactly what we did! Everyone from age 6 to 86 danced, and partied the night away. There were a lot of crazy, and wild moments, (like my aunt and uncle trying to be Fred and Ginger on the dance floor! And, the kiddos taking a serving cart for a spin!) But, there were some very sweet moments, as well. Dad did a beautiful toast to my sister, and everyone became a little teary-eyed.
All in all, it was a wonderful night that our whole family will remember for years to come.

Here Comes The Bride...

Here comes the bride-- big, fat and wide. Here comes the groom--skinny as a broom! That's how we'd sing the wedding march when we were little girls! That's not going to be the case on Friday night when my little sister walks down the aisle. She's going to be absolutely goregous, and I can't wait to see her.
She started planning this wedding over 14 months ago, and now, I can't believe that we have just a few days before the big event. I said last Valentine's Day when they got engaged that I was going to: lose 20 pounds, get in shape, and let my hair grow. And, well, it's the week of the wedding and I'm still as flabby as ever, I think I may have gained five pounds, and my hair is maybe an inch longer at the most. Oh well! I have jokingly said that I am going to be the old, fat, bridesmaid. But, whatever. I can't let the fact that I'm the oldest one (minus the parents) standing at the alter bother me, or the fact that all the other girls in the wedding are teeny, tiny and younger than me. I am tan, my teeth are shiny and white, and I have the biggest boobs. So, it's all good :)
This is going to be such a busy week for evertyone! Besides the normal things like soccer practice, orthodontist appointments, etc., we have all the wedding stuff going on. I'm only working three days this week. Thursday will be spent getting our nails done and pedicures, having lunch, and some good girl time before the rehearsal dinner that night. Friday is the big day. And, even though it's not until 7o'clock that night, we are getting an early start on the day. I'll pick up the flowers for our hair early that morning, then it's off to get hair and make-up done. We have to be at the church, and dressed no later than 4:00 that afternoon.
I was making my lists this morning (yes, plural!) and I can't believe how much I still have to do. But, it will all work out. It always does. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the wedding and reception go off without any problems, and that my sister has the most wonderful, happiest day of her life.

Kentucky Girls Rocked Nashville

So, this weekend was my sister's big bachelorette party. We spent Friday night at her house, just hanging out and doing girl stuff. The plan was to play games, and watch movies, but we never quit gabbing enough to do either of those. Typical chatty women. We had a great time, and I think it was a much needed night for all of us. Saturday we loaded up the cars and headed South to Nashville. Nashville is one of my favorite places, and I just love going. We had lunch, checkeed into the hotel, took cat naps, and then got ready for dinner. The wait at Big River was pretty long, so we walked around downtown. After a great dinner, we went to a few of the clubs. I'm sure six women in black tee shirts and bright feather boas didn't grab any attention at all. My bride-to be-sister looked goregous, as always, and a few young men were quick to buy her a drink. We danced, laughed, and had a great night. I hope my sister enjoyed her weekend as much as the rest of us did.
